…if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. -Henry David Thoreau

Today marks the beginning of a new week, and a fresh month … I love the month of May for all things flowering and alive and fragrant, for all things Indy 500-related, and for the approach of summer with my boys.
There is something about the beginning of a new month, and a new week, especially in the month of May. And so it is with something fresh and new … a blank slate waiting to be filled by new opportunities, good choices, and the promise of fulfilled dreams.
Something about that first Monday of a new month says — don’t worry about what happened last month, last week, or last hour. Today is fresh, new. It’s ready to be approached in confidence, with hope for what the future may bring, and with the belief that the best is yet to come.
It all starts with what Thoreau famously tied down into words: “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.” Perhaps the most important word in that statement is “Go.” It all begins with the first step. It can all begin today, in the fresh month of May — the advance toward the direction of our dreams.
Today, the first step …
What do you dream of doing? What direction do you hope to turn toward for your future?
Although I’m not as optimistic as you, I do love May.

Thanks, John — optimist, true, but hopefully with a healthy dose of reality. Enjoy your Spring! -JK
