“Summer afternoon—summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.” ― Henry James

8 Summer Afternoon Beauties: a Photojournal
Summer is my favorite season
For its golden sunshine and sherbet sunrises

For sundresses and walking barefoot in the garden

For stacks of books and reading in the shade

For hummingbirds with their rubies

And magical fairy flight

For heart-stopping color

And painted wings of light

Summer afternoons, the color-filled ones with time smudged around the edges, seem to refill my well and refresh my spirit with wonder. Summer afternoon must be the two most beautiful words in the English language.
How about you? What do you like best about summer?

What glorious pictures! Summer and fall are my two favorite seasons for such different reasons. Summer for it’s lack of schedule and fall for it’s schedule. I am feeling the push and pull of it all so strongly now as we enter into our last few weeks of summer vacation. Thanks for sharing these beautiful images and thoughts.

Summer is bliss for its lack of schedule, and fall FOR its schedule. You’re right. Enjoy your vacation and thanks for sharing, Stacey!

Summer favorites: Campfires, starry nights, smores– colorful toenail polish, sandals, capris–popsicles, corn on the cob, homemade ice cream–family reunions, vacations, small town celebrations– parades, patriotic buntings, and fireworks

Beautiful photos! I especially like the hummingbirds. We don’t get them much in my neck of the woods. I love the fireflies as they blink in the dusk on a summer night.

WOW! Especially love the two with the bird.
My favorite part of summer is the slowness of it–we’re so much less scheduled.

I’m going to be wistful after the hummingbirds migrate south, which will be soon. They always seem to be sitting right outside my window–tiny living jewels. Thanks, Nina!
