January 11: Snowflakes

The View over Prague in Winter

January 11

What are people that you should think about them, mere mortals that you should care for them? Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor.(Psalm 8:4-5)

Some of life’s greatest blessings come from slowing down and living a little. Perhaps in slowing down we regain perspective and see ourselves more as Jesus sees us. In opening our eyes to the beauty that surrounds us in nature, we learn more about God’s miraculous love and creation. One beautiful winter wonder is found in the miraculous intricacy of snowflakes. By simply catching snowflakes on a black surface, snowflakes are showcased like diamonds on black velvet.

In our finite minds, it is hard to imagine the infinite variety of the snowflakes, but God must take pleasure in the simple, delicate beauty of each one. How much more God values each human life! He fashions and creates each individual human being and takes great pleasure in our delicate lives. How incredible!

Through our own wonder, we learn volumes about our awesome Creator. We gain perspective as we discover the magnificence of our God through the eyes of a child.

Appreciate God’s beautiful handiwork!
