Full Life

Let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up.(Hebrews 12:1)

When our family moved to the Midwest from the deep South, we had to make many adjustments. We were glad to give up swarming termites, kudzu, and oppressive heat, but we weren’t quite ready for the winter snow and ice. Winter wasn’t a problem, of course, until we had to go somewhere. All of us have learned the hard way not to be in too much of a hurry in defrosting the windshield. Driving off with a frosty windshield is like driving with our eyes closed.

God does not want us to drive blind. We need to rid ourselves of whatever hinders us, like scraping off the windshield before we drive down life’s road. Blocked vision makes us ineffective and interferes with God’s desires for us. Jesus said, “My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life” (John 10:10). He wants our lives to be fulfilling and rewarding.

As we pursue the life Jesus intends for us, we need to give up whatever relationships, habits, commitments, values, or activities keep us from a full life and rich relationship with God.

Remove whatever blocks your way to God.
