Plans
“I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
For a few years, I grew up down South, deep in the heart of Texas. In the cowgirl tradition, I donned pigtails and a thick accent, and sometimes sported a cowgirl hat. One of those times was at a friend’s birthday party, where we were invited for a trail ride on the friendly ranch horses. I loved to ride, so I mounted and we were off.
Normally, a horse obliges by following its rider’s lead. That day, before I could gather my voice to holler, we were off at a full canter, wildly pursuing my horse’s agenda. Luckily, we soon reached his favorite destination—the barn.
Sometimes, our everyday lives are a wild ride. In following God’s lead, we realize that God will do the best job of arranging the details of our lives, leaving us with less need to worry and more time to enjoy what he has provided. When we let God lead, we will abundantly find whatever else we were looking for as well. Rest your plans in God’s hands.
