Worried and Wondering
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. (Philippians 4:6-7)
Life has many unknowns. Mothers must let their children leave for their first day of preschool, first bus ride, first sleepover, first drive behind the wheel, first date, first day of college . . . . We may worry about keeping our job, getting the promotion, making a go of our small business, or having enough to see us through retirement. There are so many things to worry about.
As a nation, we are very good at anxiety. There are so many unknowns. Just a few minutes tuned to a news network will give us plenty more to worry about: the latest terrorist threats, flu outbreaks, traffic accidents, health scares.
We don’t know what tomorrow will bring, or even the next moment. Thankfully, we know who holds each day and moment. Paul writes, “Don’t worry about anything.” He can say this because God has every issue under his control. Our part is to pray and trust; God will give us peace beyond our understanding. Turn off the news and trust God in everything.
Trust God with your needs.
